The best way to download 1 kb image for web, social media, and more

I'm trying to download a 300KB .npz file from a URL. When I download the file with, urllib.request.urlretrieve(), or with requests, an error is not thrown. The .npz file downloads. However, this .npz file is not 300KB. The file size is only 1 KB. Also, the file is unreadable - when I use np.load(), the error OSError: Failed to interpret file 'x.npz' as a pickle shows up.

Wget is a networking command-line tool that lets you download files and interact with REST APIs. It supports the HTTP,HTTPS, FTP, and FTPS internet protocols. Wget can deal with unstable and slow network connections. In the event of a download failure, Wget keeps trying until the entire file has been retrieved. Wget also lets you resume a file download that was interrupted without starting from scratch.

In this section, you will use Wget to customize your download experience. For example, you will learn to download a single file and multiple files, handle file downloads in unstable network conditions, and, in the case of a download interruption, resume a download.

With the command above, you have created a directory named DigitalOcean-Wget-Tutorial, and inside of it, you created a subdirectory named Downloads. This directory and its subdirectory will be where you will store the files you download.

Before saving a file, Wget checks whether the file exists in the desired directory. If it does, Wget adds a number to the end of the file. If you ran the command above one more time, Wget would create a file named jquery-3.6.0.min.js.2. This number increases every time you download a file to a directory that already has a file with the same name.

In order to download multiples files using Wget, you need to create a .txt file and insert the URLs of the files you wish to download. After inserting the URLs inside the file, use the wget command with the -i option followed by the name of the .txt file containing the URLs.

So far, you have download files with the maximum available download speed. However, you might want to limit the download speed to preserve resources for other tasks. You can limit the download speed by using the --limit-rate option followed by the maximum speed allowed in kiloBits per second and the letter k.

You can overwrite a file you have downloaded by using the -O option alongside the name of the file. In the code below, you will first download the second image listed in the images.txt file to the current directory and then you will overwrite it.

You can run the command above as many times as you like and Wget will download the file and overwrite the existing one. If you run the command above without the -O option, Wget will create a new file each time you run it.

Run the following command to download a random image of a dog found on Pixabay. Note that in the command, you have set the maximum speed to 1 KB/S. Before the image finishes downloading, press Ctrl+C to cancel the download:

When you download files in the background, Wget creates a file named wget-log in the current directory and redirects all output to this file. If you wish to watch the status of the download, you can use the following command:

The table below shows scaled JPEG (on the left) and WebP images (on the right)side-by-side for comparison. Since browsers exist that support WebP natively,we no longer place WebP images in a PNG container as we did at launch. Imagefile sizes are exact. Clicking on the JPEG and WebP thumbnails will open thelarge images in a new tab

The images on this page come from a number of different sources. We haveselected some delightful and rich pictures to showcase qualities of WebP.Famous classic images such as Lena, the Baboon, etc., often used when doingcompression comparisons, are unfortunately not free of copyright.

I just had 13 messages from various contacts, each one won't download, strange thing is, every one has a future date, not today's date! I cannot send or receive images, text is fine. I use Boost mobile, l have a J7 Perx phone. Boost mobile techs tried to fix issue, suggested a factory reset.

I had the same issue. Group texts would come over individually and not be able to be downloaded. Also could not get picture messages. Everything else on my phone worked fine. Several calls to Boost mobile with no luck. They sent me a new SIM card. I called to activate it because it didn't just work, they told me it wouldn't work because it was a 5G SIM card. They put me on the phone with someone, who did the same thing I had done a bunch of times. Resets etc, I had just done a factory reset no luck. Everything worked fine except my messages. Transferred me to a specialist, she was able to fix it! Basically I had to switch it back to the CDMA network and my phone now says 3g above the bars but everything works. She said essentially my phone isn't 100% compatible with Boost's new upgraded network. So I couldn't send any message that was over 100kb. But even small pictures under that wouldn't work. Either way I've sent probably 30 picture messages since then and it is working now. Hope this helps

This download time calculator will help you determine the time it will take to download a file at a given internet bandwidth. An internet bandwidth provides information about a network's upload and download speed, and the faster the internet download speed is, the faster we obtain the file or the data we need. Keep on reading to learn how long it takes to download, let's say, your favorite video clip.

Computer file sizes vary depending on the amount of data or information a computer file stores. When storing data, computers use what is called bits, an abbreviation of "binary digits." A bit can save either a yes or a no, black or white, and so on. Data stored in bits are represented by 1's and 0's and can be combined with other bits to form useful files like texts, images, audio, or videos.

Files cannot always be in just one computer or machine. When we take a picture using a digital camera, we need to have a way to transfer the picture file to a computer and then to a printer to end up with the image printed on a piece of paper. With that said, several ways have been developed for us to be able to transfer digital files from one device to another. The simplest way to transfer a file is through a data cable specifically made to transmit data.

Nowadays, we can also transfer data wirelessly through radio frequencies like Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. We can now also upload or transfer data to the internet so that other people can access it. The internet is a series of computer networks running all across the world. With the internet, we can now easily send any file to our loved ones, even if they are a thousand miles away from us, as long as they also have access to the internet. All we need to do is upload our file to the internet. Then, to access our file, people have to download it to their devices.

Uploading and downloading data can take a while, depending on the file's size and transfer rate. Think of it like pouring water into a beaker. Pouring water from one beaker to another will only take a little amount of time. However, if we place a funnel on one beaker, the amount of water flow will decrease due to the narrow part of the funnel.

To better understand this, let us consider an example. Let's say that your friend wants to send you his new 400 MB (megabytes) video creation over his 10 Mbps (megabits per second) internet connection. On the other hand, you will be receiving the video file over your 5 Mbps home internet connection. For this example, let us assume that the upload and download speeds for both connections can use their entire bandwidths. Since the file will also be coming through the much lower 5 Mbps connection, this will be the maximum transfer speed that we can get for this data transfer. But, to determine the upload and download speeds of your connection, you can use any third-party speed test applications that can be accessed online through your browser.

Now that we know how to determine the transfer speed for our uploads and downloads, we can now calculate a file's download time or duration. Calculating download time is as simple as dividing the size of the file you wish to transfer by the transfer speed of the network that the transfer will go through. However, we have to be careful with the units we use since this could be quite confusing.

As shown above, the 400 MB video file will finish downloading in less than 11 minutes over a stable 5 Mbps connection. However, if somebody else in the house uses the internet while you're downloading this video file, it could take much longer to complete the download because of congestion in the data transfer. You may check the amount of data required with our video file size calculator.

Aside from calculating the download time of a file from the internet, you can also use this calculator to determine the transfer duration from, let's say, a computer to an external storage device like a USB flash drive. However, you must first know the transfer rate of your connection to calculate the transfer duration. You can also use this download time calculator to determine your download speed. However, for this, you have to time how long to download a particular file. Then, by entering the file size and the download time in our calculator, you'll be able to calculate your internet's download speed.

If you want to determine the actual time your download will take to complete, you can input the estimated download time into our time duration calculator. Our time duration calculator will help you determine the actual completion time of the download.
